The People’s Redemption Party, PRP, has invited top chieftains of ADC, like Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso and other political leaders in parties facing leadership crisis, like the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, “to unite under PRP to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy.”

This follows the recent decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to relate with any faction of African Democratic Congress, ADC, pending the determination of the substantive matter at the Federal High Court over the party’s leadership.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mohammed Haruna, INEC’s Commissioner For Information and Voter Education, citing the March 12 judgement of the Court of Appeal had said “the commission will refrain from engaging the two ADC factions led by Senator David Mark and Hon Nafiu Gombe.”

Reacting to this development, PRP advised the top political leaders in ADC and others to make haste and unite under PRP before it is too late.

In a statement on Thursday, James Adeshina, the Chairman of PRP in Lagos, described the ADC leadership crisis as “a threat to opposition cohesion.”

He said: “At a time when the nation urgently needs a strong and united front to safeguard democracy, internal crises like the one in ADC only weaken the collective ability of opposition forces to provide credible alternatives…

“With the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ADC facing leadership crises that could affect their electoral goals, the PRP remains a credible alternative without internal wranglings.”

Describing the development as “a wake-up call to leaders and stakeholders to rise above party loyalty and embrace a broader national agenda,” Adesina said: “I, therefore, extend a sincere invitation to key figures and stakeholders within ADC and beyond, leaders such as Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and others, to approach PRP….”

He also said: “To the leaders affected, this is not about abandoning your ideals—it is about preserving them in a more viable structure.

“It is about ensuring that your vision for Nigeria does not get lost in internal conflicts or political fragmentation.

“History will not remember the parties we defended—it will remember the country we saved.”

On why the politicians should consider PRP, Adeshina said PRP “is the country’s oldest political party, stable with consistent ideological leaning.

“We encourage opposition leaders to rescue Nigeria by joining PRP, a party existing for 47 years with strong ideology and unity,” he said.
