Nigeria’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has directed Air Component Commanders of all military operations nationwide to strike terrorists or bandits harder.
The Chief of Air Staff made the call when he convened a high-level strategic meeting with the commanders from all operational theatres at the NAF Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting, held under the new leadership’s directive, focused on “intensifying precision air operations and delivering smarter, harder, and more decisive strikes against insurgents, terrorists, and criminal elements undermining Nigeria’s peace and stability.”
A statement by NAF says the engagement marks “a decisive step in recalibrating” NAF’s “operational posture and strengthening inter-service synergy for enhanced national security outcomes.”
Addressing the commanders, the CAS specified the importance of “agility, precision, and intelligence-driven warfare to effectively counter evolving threats across all theatres”.
He told the senior officers: “We must fly smarter and strike harder; every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism”.
He also emphasised “the need for “synchronisation of intelligence-led air, land, and maritime operations.”
These, he said, would ensure joint mission success.
According to Aneke, NAF would continue to work closely with sister services and security agencies to achieve unified operational effectiveness.
The statement also quoted Aneke as “reaffirming his commitment to personnel welfare, innovation, and continuous training.
He also pledged “to equip airmen and airwomen with the tools and skills required for mission success,” the statement said.
“The safety and confidence of our citizens are our mission success indicators. Nigeria is counting on us, and we will not fail,” the air chief added.
NewsOrient reports that the CAS’ order came in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to address what Trump described as the “mass slaughter” of Christians in Nigeria”
