The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1, 2025 as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this through a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, who described the anniversary as a “historic milestone.”

NewsOrient reports that Nigeria, a former colony of Britain, got her independence on 1st October 1960.
