Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha has been ordained an Archbishop of the Methodist Church Nigeria.

Available records show that he was consecrated as Bishop in 2003 and has, amongst other unique positions, served as the first Bishop of Evangelism in Methodist Church.

His latest elevation, as an Archbishop was conferred on him by the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, at the Hoares Memorial Cathedral.

One of the earliest political leaders in Nigeria to congratulate Archbishop Sunday Onuoha over the elevation is the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti.

In a statement signed by Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Governor Alex Otti notes that Bishop Sunday Onuoha’s appointment as an Archbishop “is a source of pride for Abia State.

“On behalf of the Government and People of Abia State, the Governor felicitates with Archbishop Onuoha and prays that God will continue to guide and bless him in his new role.”

NewsOrient reports that Archbishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, born in Item, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria, on March 22, 1964, is the Founder and President of Vision Africa International and the Co-Chair, Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace.

Archbishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha’s active involvement in Interfaith dialogue and politics has added strong socio-political colour to the huge religious voice he has become over the years.

He has continually demonstrated interest in playing active roles in politics and leadership in his State, Abia and in Nigeria.

During the tenure of the then President Olusegun Obasanjo, as Nigerian President, in 2003, he was appointed as Special Assistant on Privatization.

He was the gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State in the 2023 General Elections.

With his latest elevation, Archbishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, is poised for higher leadership roles.
