The agricultural revolution in Taraba State has received a boost with the declaration of the first bumper harvest of its Cucumber Farm since the resumption of operations.
The management of Taraba State Green House said with a robust production of green pepper and cucumber, the Green House is now set to play a dominant role in the new innovation and technology laden agricultural revolution.
The Project Manager of Taraba State Green House, Gil Navon, said a new day has indeed arrived for Green House farming in the State.
According to him, the event has confirmed that the technology has come to stay and that it is one of the best in the world.
Gil Navon, a top-level agricultural expert, said that the “soil-ess” concept of farming is set to place Taraba state as the leading agricultural advanced state in the country.
He said the State government was strategic in ensuring that the project did not die from past ineptitude.
The Green House famously called Cucumber Farm was on the verge of collapse, but was however revived Governor Agbu Kefas.
Subjecting the complex to experts, Kefas ensured that the Green House took its rightful place in the ongoing agricultural revolution.
The experts also went to work to deal with factors limiting its operations.
Navon said the event is the the culmination of hard work, dedication, and consistency, adding that with the first fruits of the latest upswing of the farm, the sky is the limit.
He is optimistic that the qualitative products from this farm will change the way business is done.
Markets all over Nigeria have started reacting to the bumper harvest.
The goal is to make the Taraba Green House the veritable source for all the needed vegetables, rich in nutrients and being the best product for sale and sustenance.
Navon said Taraba State will also benefit immensely as the marketers target the national space.
One of the partners, Ohad Shiltman, said the initiative is not forgetting the local market.
He said the state will enjoy all the products and will ensure residents also participate in the bounties.
Ohad also said that the Green House facilities will continue to provide expertise and training for the home based agro – preneurs.
He said the proximity of the farm to higher institutions of learning such as the Taraba State University and the College of Agriculture is not a mere coincidence.
Ohad stressed that the farm will generate jobs and stimulate economic growth for Taraba state as the host of the complex.
