I have observed genuine concerns about the recent conglomeration of men of the same hue and cry, the recent political coalition of men motivated by the zeal to rescue Nigeria. People are wondering where Governor Alex Otti stands in this equation and what becomes of his reign with the presence of Peter Obi, the spiritual arrow-head of the Labour Party movement, in the coalition.

There are conjectures as to where the wind will blow and where Otti might set sail. Infact, it is as though the coalition is all about Abia.

In all sincerity, I do not see any need for this mental exercise. This is because Governor Otti has transmuted from an orphan in power to a unique political brand. Call it a premium brand for in him we have seen the power of personal branding.

Governor Otti is a stand-alone coalition. He is currently the coalition of all villages, communities, LGAs, clans, age-grades and all people of Abia. The hope and aspiration of the people of Abia dissolve into Governor Otti. The reason is that Otti has proven himself a workman that needs not be ashamed and the people can point at what they have seen to register their conviction in the supremacy of their leader.

The masses of Abia today are captive followers of Otti, not by coercion or persuasion but by personal conviction.

It therefore follows that for the people of Abia, Otti is the authentic coalition. Abians belong to Otti as their coalition. Where he stands is where Abia stands, where he raises the flag is where Abia will go.

Mark my words. The Otti coalition will rule Abia till 2032 and beyond. Through his work and his conciencious effort in overhauling Abia, he has invested into the emotional bank account of the people.

Abians have seen very clearly the merit of change and the benefit in the restoration of a new order and they are not willing to let go.

Not many leaders are able to master the magic of personal branding that inspires hope and optimism and wins willing fellowership. Otti, undeniably, struck an immediate chord with his servant-leader positioning, his reset and overhauling motto, his reconcientizing and re-orientation mantra and, above all, his promise-kept commitments. The people’s love for him is earned. Abians were actually yearning for a leader who was prepared and who understood the actual treatment for the Abia diagnosis.

For Abians, the authentic coalition is Otti and not the conglomeration of men of Abuja. Where there is unity of purpose, Abians will queue behind Otti. The ready, dependable coalition is the work they have seen and the man behind the work. The symbol of their coalition is the magic of Port Harcourt Road and many other roads, the rebuilding of government buildings and public facilities, the all-night light from the street lights in Aba and Umuahia, the will in the cleaning of Lokpanta and the surroundings, the constant bank alerts of salaries and pension.

The coalition that works for Abians is the new clean environment given by ASEPA. Thier coalition is the decency and order that are being put into the affairs of Abia, the new security architecture that has become a nightmare to criminal elements. The greatest want of Abians is the consolidation of their coalition. The greatest desire of Abian is to be witnesses to the final destination of the new Abia as envisioned by Governor Otti.

Perhaps, if need be for a movement, Abians will follow the man behind the coalition that has worked. There is no cause for alarm.
