Groups Challenge Deputy Speaker Ben Kalu To Clear Himself Of ENASCO’s Alleged Fraud

A group, Abia Conscience Movement (ACM) has challenged RT. Hon Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to tell Abians his role in the ENASCO fraud scandal in which his Chief of Staff, Mr.Sam Hart, and other directors of the company have been dragged to court.
This is even as another group, Women for Positivity (WP) has also accused Hon Kalu of “treachery and of being used to snitch on some political leaders in the past.
In a press release made available to newsmen in Abuja, the Leader of Abia Conscience Movement (ACM), Mr Akubokwu Onuoha, said the silence of the Deputy Speaker on such a very sensitive issue that involves attempt to defraud the good people of Abia State speaks volumes.
The group demands that Abians deserve to know the truth about the level of involvement of the Deputy Speaker, most especially as Abia State Government has dragged his closest aide, Mr Hart, and others to court over the scandal.
This is even as it is being rumoured that another individual named in the same alleged fraud was his nominee.
In another development, a women’s group, Women for Positivity (WP) has also accused Hon Kalu and Mr Sam Hart of treachery and of being used in the past to snitch on political leaders.
The leader of the group, Mrs. Roseline Alajemba, accused Hon Kalu of being a double faced agent who has a history and penchant for treachery and snitching.
The group alleged that in the past, Hon Kalu was a mole planted by the then PDP government in Abia State to leak sensitive election information and strategy of the then candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Chief Chris Akomas, in the 2011 Governorship Election.
The group alleged that the actions of the mole led to Akoma’s loss in the election denying an Ngwa man the opportunity then to govern the state.
Mrs.Alajemba said Hon Ben Kalu and his colleague then, Mr Sam Hart, during the regime of former Governor Theodore Orji, were then used by the PDP to snitch on Mr Akomas. They also did the same work with Mr Hart against the APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr.Uche Ogah, in 2019.
She said it was therefore not a surprise that Hon. Kalu rewarded Mr. Sam Hart with such a position even when he wasn’t a member of his party APC but a member of the PDP and and an appointee of former Governor Ikpeazu.
Mrs Alajemba chided Hon. Kalu’s boast that the South East will give 70% votes to President Bola Tinubu.
She said “just the other day, a State Assembly Member from the Bende LGA he represents in the House of Representatives just decamped to the Labour Party and not his party, APC. Is that how he will deliver 70 percent of Abia votes to Tinubu and APC?”
The women group challenged Hon. Ben Kalu to dare refute their allegations and threatened that if they are dared, they will reveal more to the public.
