The appointment of former Minister of Finance, Sen Nenadi Usman, as the Caretaker Chairman of the Labour Party, has been rejected by the Julius Abure-led LP leadership.

It would be recalled that Sen Nenadi Usman’s appointment was announced at an extended stakeholders meeting at the Banquet Hall of the Abia State Government House in Umuahia, Abia State capital on Wednesday.

In attendance at the meeting hosted by Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, were Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate in the 2023 National Election, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 Elections, serving lawmakers elected on the platform of the Labour Party and other top leaders and stakeholders.

Reacting to the development however, the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee has dismissed the appointment of Usman and the caretaker committee as “illegal, unconstitutional,” “a “charade” and “waste of Abia State’s resources.”

The Abure-led LP National Working Committee said these in a statement by it’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.
