The fire outbreak at Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical, Lekki, Lagos, has been confirmed by the company

Earlier reports late afternoon this Wednesday, June 26, 2024, showed video of fire raging at parts of the refinery..

Confirming the fire outbreak at the new refinery, the company, in a terse statement, described the incident as minor, adding that it has been contained.

“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP), today Wednesday 26th of June.

“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to any of our staff on duty,” Dangote Industries Limited said.

The statement is signed by the company’s Group Chief Branding & Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina.
