More facts have emerged on why the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today declared former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, wanted.
He is wanted by the federal government’s anti graft agency over alleged N80 billion fraud.
It would be recalled that the commission, on Thursday, called on anyone with information “as to his whereabout” to “report immediately to the Commission or the nearest Police Station.”
The new facts emerged barely a day after Bello evaded arrest by EFCC operatives to face criminal charges in court.
NewsOrient learnt that Yahaya’s predicament with EFCC took a new turn as soon as the arrest warrant was issued against him.
However, on Thursday, Bello, through his lawyer, Abdulwahab Mohammed, asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to set aside an arrest warrant issued against him.
Mohammed told Justice Emeka Nwite that the court lacked jurusidction to grant the order in the first instance.
Mohammed informed the court that a preliminary objection had already been filed before the court to the effect.
