Imo State Governor, Sen Hope Uzodimma, has pleaded with his political opponents and other stakeholders in Imo State to forgive and forget all in order to work together for future development of the State.
The governor made the plea for reconciliation on Monday, January 15, 2024, during his inauguration for the second term in office as the Governor of Imo State.
Uzodimma pleaded with his opponents and other stakeholders in Imo thus: “My dear brothers and sisters, as you know, Imo State belongs to all of us, and building the state of our dream will require the contributions of everyone of us, irrespective of our political affiliations.
“The time has come to bury all those differences so we can work collectively to develop our state.
“Remember, this is the only state we can truly call our own. Therefore, we should all think of how we can contribute to her growth instead of leaving it to the government alone.
“Let us forgive and forget. Let us reconcile and move our state forward,” Governor Hope Uzodimma said.
Some top dignitaries, who witnessed the Uzodinma’s second term inauguration, include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, and the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Amongst State governors that attended the inauguration are: Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun and the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum.
Besides the presence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the same event, keen observers noted that former governors of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, and Rochas Okorocha’s presence also left an impression.
Other important signatories at the event also include former National Chairman of the ruling APC, Adams Oshiomhole, Arthur Eze, and the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
