DSS, Correctional Services Officials In An Open Free-For-All Fight Over Emefiele’s Detention
DSS Subdues Correctional Officials, Re-Arrests The Former CBN Governor In Spite Of Federal High Court Order
Nigerians at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, and millions of others who watched the curious scene online, could not immediately believe their eyes today, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, when they saw armed operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria’s Secret Police, in a free for all fight with uniformed officials of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) at the premises of the Federal High Court over who should detain the embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
NewsOrient Network reports that at the end of the curious open fight between the operatives of the two Nigeria security organisations, operatives of DSS subdued the officials of NCS (Prisons) and re-arrested Emefiele.
The bizarre drama commenced soon after Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court, sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, admitted the suspended CBN Governor to bail in the sum of the N20m.
It is also on record that the learned judge actually ordered that Emefiele be remanded at the Correctional Center pending the fulfillment of the bail conditions, an order the DSS blatantly flouted.
