Wike Markets Candidates For Senate Minority Leadership Positions

The battle for the four principal positions reserved for the opposition parties in the Senate has taken the centre stage at the National Assembly.

NewsOrient Network reports that one of the top southern politicians that seems excessively interested in influencing who takes the minority leadership seats at the Senate is former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

The available minority leadership seats are minority leader, deputy minority leader, minority whip and deputy whip.

We learnt that part of the major planks of Wike’s visit to Senate President Godswill Akpabio was to lobby on the candidature of some senators for the seats.

But in their reactions to the ongoing politicking the lawmakers, in a joint statement, said “the minority caucus would select its leaders after consultation with their respective political parties without undue interference from anti-democratic forces.”
