Abia: Vote Otti, All LP Candidates And Change Our Story Of Being A Laughing Stock – Umeh Kalu

Being The Message From The Abia State Obi-Datti Campaign Coordinator, Chief Umeh Kalu, SAN To All Abians

The Nigerian Presidential Elections that was held on Saturday, 25th February, 2023 by INEC has come and gone howbelt, with multifarious condemnation and disappointment by majority of Nigerians and the international community on its execution and delivery.

No election in the history of Nigeria has ever attracted so much interest and concern to the Nigerian public, including Nigerians in the Diaspora, like the 2023 General Elections.

The enormous and unprecedented interest that this election generated cannot be diversed from the dire and pathetic situation in which Nigerians have found themselves in recent times.

While most Nigerians bemoan their fate and remain disillusioned over the malpractices that characterized the elections, they should feel proud that for once, their voices for positive change in the affairs of Nigeria have been heard, loud and clear and even beyond the shores of this country.

I thank and congratulate all Abians for their massive support for the Labour Party, as exemplified by the results so far released by INEC.

For all of us who are citizens of Abia and other residents, including those carrying on their businesses in Abia State, 25th February, 2023 was a defining moment which they had for a long while yearned for.

The pattern of voting was not only an indication that Abians have joined other well meaning Nigerians in checkmating the speedy decline in the socio-economic situation of Nigeria, but equally showed their courage and determination to liberate themselves from suffocating stranglehold of a cartel that has held them down for over two (2) decades.

Abians have spoken via their votes on Saturday, 25th February, 2023, that they are ready for the birth of a new dawn in Abia State, where the resources of their state will be employed for the general wellbeing and welfare of the State and majority of its citizens. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Abians have indeed had over two decades of humiliating, traumatic and near destitute experience in the hands of those that have been at the helm of affairs in the State.

The massive support given to the Labour Party, which presently represents the vehicle for positive change in Nigeria in the Saturday, 25th February, 2023 elections, is not only heartening but also commendable.

God has indeed heard the prayers and supplication of all well-meaning Abians, who have waited this long for God’s intervention in the affairs of our State.

Our votes have clearly shown our resolve to discard the old order and resist the forces of oppression and deprivation that have held all of us down for several years. Abians have indeed crossed the red sea and can now look back and see Pharaoh and his horsemen drowned.

However, it is instructive to warn that we are yet to get to Canaan. Though our Canaan may be in sight, we still need to repeat what we did on the 25th February, 2023 by Saturday, March 11, 2023. Our morale should in no way be dampened by the refusal of INEC to declare Peter Obi winner of the election as the last has not been heard of Peter Obi’s presidential bid.

I confirm that I have conveyed Abia’s performance at the presidential election to Peter Obi, who personally took note in writing of vital areas of my report, especially in the area of voters’ suppression and disenfranchisement of eligible voters in Ohafia Local Government Area and other parts of the State.

It is now public knowledge that Labour Party has rejected the result of the presidential election as announced by INEC and will soon commence appropriate legal action towards seeking redress.

I enjoin all Abians to troop out enmasse on Saturday, 11th March, 2023 to consolidate the gains of Saturday, 25th February, 2023. The consolidation of our gains lies only in voting massively for the Labour Party in order to liberate Abia State and set it on the path of sustainable growth.

Though our past years of the locust and cankerworm has put us in a state of despair and stunted our growth as citizens of Nigeria, we can still pick up our pieces and commence the journey to join our neighboring/sister States that have abandoned us behind in all spheres of development.

We can change our story of being a laughing stock in the comity of states in Nigeria through our vote on the 11th of March, 2023 for Dr Alex Otti and all Labour Party candidates.

May God bless us all and our State Abia, as we heed this fervent call for positive change.
