Following the recent zoning of it’s 2025 Presidential Ticket to the Southern part of Nigeria, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced intense wooing of prominent politicians from the South to join the race on the party’s ticket.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State confirmed this on Thursday when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He said the top politicians from the South, who the PDP is currently targeting include former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 Elections.

Bala Mohammed, who was also a former Federal Capital Territory Minister, said “former Governor Obi will be given the opportunity if he chose to return to the PDP. If he decides to come to a better platform where there are no encumbrances, he will be given the opportunity,” Mohammed stated.

Mohammed added that former President Jonathan also “is one of the candidates we are thinking of if he joins us and opens his mind to run.”

Asked whether the PDP governors were specially courting Obi or talking to him about running under the party for the election, “Mohammed said, “Have you not seen him with me? He’s my brother, my friend.

“And of course, he’s one of the most celebrated politicians, too. And of course, you see him within the coalition or no coalition, definitely we are not sleeping, only that we don’t make noise,” he said.
