The Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has promised to serve a single four-year term if he becomes elected as Nigeria’s President in the forthcoming 2027 Presidential Election.

The Oyo State governor spoke at an APM town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, on Saturday. He promised to address the challenges facing the country, including insecurity and poverty, among others.

“Our government will not last beyond four years,” he said, adding, “And it will be an all-inclusive government.”

It is noteworthy that this Makinde’s promise mirrors the promise made earlier by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, who has consistently vowed to serve a single four-year term if elected as president.

Coming from the South, some observers say their resolve is in line with the unwritten power-sharing agreement between the northern and the southern parts of Nigeria.

The incumbent President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his fourth year as Nigerian President, is from the south and is vying for re-election during the forthcoming 2027 Elections.
